The four IB criteria
Every IB MYP English item is anchored to one of the four IB criteria. Year 5 eAssessment weights them equally (20 marks each); earlier years use the same rubric structure with level-calibrated demand.
Critical reading and listening: identify, interpret, and evaluate textual choices. Default Thinking probe: Critical thinking — justify with evidence and address counterclaims.
Logical structure and cohesion: thesis, paragraph progression, transitions. Practice items train you to organize ideas under exam time-pressure.
Original text production across literary and non-literary forms. Default Thinking probe: Creative thinking — generate alternatives and justify stylistic choices.
Range, accuracy, and register across audiences and contexts. Default Thinking probe: Transfer — adapt language across contrasting contexts and analyse what shifts.
Three rules that work for almost everyone.
Built from thousands of practice sessions — what actually moves the needle.
How we score
Aligned with the official rubric.
Every practice score and mock test grade follows the exam's published marking rules — not a made-up internal scale.
